DaRo Products to exhibit at the Southern Manufacturing Show

DaRo Products is looking forward to exhibiting at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show for the first time this February and will be located at Stand “Q2”.

Held at the Farnborough International Venue & Events site in Hampshire, the show is established as the UK’s largest regional manufacturing technology, electronics and subcontracting exhibition.

Thousands of companies are expected to attend the proceedings which run from February 9 to 11. There will be representatives from a host of sectors from automotive specialists and electronic manufacturers to aerospace contractors, and suppliers to the pharma and bio sectors.

For DaRo the show represents an opportunity to network and meet manufacturing companies from across the south of England. Traditionally, we have worked closely with customers from the eastern region and are confident our products can also help businesses from further afield improve their manufacturing processes.

While we will have information on our sheet metal fabrication services, DaRo is attending the event primarily to promote the plastics vacuum forming services we offer. A key part of this operation is the component packaging and transit trays we produce, which are available both through bespoke ordering and off-the-shelf. Suitable for a wide range of applications and industries, the trays can help bring efficiencies to the manufacturing process and enable businesses to move towards a lean manufacturing model.

With the bespoke service, DaRo can work on existing CAD models or, if the customer prefers, engineer a custom-made solution based on a sample of a component, which will provide protection and support in transit.

We also keep a range of standard plastic vacuum formed component trays in stock for immediate dispatch. Ideal for transportation of engineering components, these versatile and stackable component trays are manufactured from environmentally friendly recycled materials, and are available in a number of different designs.

Together with our recent investment in additional Bellotti equipment to support DaRo’s plastics milling operation, our decision to attend the Southern Manufacturing Show is a mark of the confidence we have in the sector at present.

Please come and visit us at location stand “Q2”, where we will be happy to discuss your requirements further or if you are unable to attend please don’t hesitate to call us on 01787 881191 for an informal discussion.

The ongoing success of our bespoke plastic component trays

Here at DaRo Products, a successful and growing part of our business is the manufacture of bespoke plastic component trays and packaging.

Created using the vacuum forming process, the trays are designed for use by high end manufacturers to store and protect the intricate components they produce. The trays also enhance the overall aesthetics and presentation of the parts, and help with ease of handling and stock control.

What has been particularly attractive to clients is our approach of custom designing the trays, either by working with their existing CAD models or engineering a bespoke solution based on a sample of the components.

The packing trays can be manufactured from a wide range of plastic materials to meet specific requirements such as impact protection and oil / chemical resistant.

In addition, we also stock a range of ‘off-the-shelf’ plastic shipping trays and component packaging for immediate dispatch. These versatile trays come in a variety of designs and are ideal for transporting engineering components.

The demand for the component trays has been so high that we have recently introduced a number of new lines to complement our existing products.

We will be showing these when we exhibit for the first time at the Southern Manufacturing Show next year, positioned at location “Q2”. Due to be held in Farnborough in February, the event is the UK’s largest regional manufacturing technology, electronics and subcontracting exhibition – and one we are really looking forward to.

Our appearance at the event is sign of intent, and we are hoping to meet a number of manufacturers of finely-turned components who will see us as the ideal partner for helping them to better transport their products and enable their transition to enhanced stock control and lean manufacturing.

If you would like to know more about our component tray and packaging service please do not hesitate to call us now on 01787 881191 or email us for an informal conversation.

Working with Villiers Brothers

Alongside our established sheet metal fabrication work, here at DaRo we are growing another side of the business relating to high spec, high quality architectural metal work.

It is a side to our output that not only demonstrates our ability to work with various metals of all types and finishes, but also illustrates our approach of working closely with customers on product design and visualisation.

A good example of this are the recent projects we have been involved in with luxury furniture makers Villiers Brothers. As the name suggests, this interesting company is run by three brothers who over 26 years have established a global reputation for the design and quality of their tables, chairs, mirrors and sculptures. Based in a rural location south of Cambridge, they produce exceptional pieces for an international market of interior designers, hotel designers and super yacht owners.

One of the brothers, Tim, contacted us earlier this year explaining he was looking to outsource some work if he could find the right partners to work with. After initial discussions we sent through drawings and worked with Villiers to ensure we offered a quote and a lead time that was acceptable.

It has led to a fruitful relationship that so far has seen us produce a number of items including a custom-size Brooklyn-style console table with a gilt finish and a sculpted ‘Revolution’ dining table with a polished nickel finish.

But don’t just take our word for it. We thought the best approach for this bulletin was to ask Tim, a director at Villiers Brother, what it is like working with DaRo. We have to say we are delighted and flattered by his response.

Tim said: “DaRo is one of only a couple of manufacturers Villiers Brothers has outsourced work to. From the outset I was impressed with their professionalism – they were prompt in getting back and I felt at home with them from very early on.

“They took time to understand our requirements and came back with a reasonable price and lead times.

“What clinched it was the powder coating service that DaRo offers. It means they can offer a fabrication and finishing service all in-house, a one stop shop.

“I am very pleased with the end results – they have nailed it. And they have been no problem to work with, on time and hassle-free – totally what we were after when we made the decision to outsource.”

Needless to say it has also been a pleasure working with Villiers and we are now looking at some longer term initiatives including producing a special bronze powder coating for some of their pieces.

If you would like to know more about our specialist architectural metal or powder coating service please do not hesitate to call us now on 01787 881191 or email us for an informal conversation.

New Belotti 5-axis CNC Machining

At DaRo Products we strive to keep up to date with technology ensuring our production processes are efficient as possible. Which is why we have recently invested in a new Belotti 5-axis CNC machining centre.

The new machine allows us to trim, drill and machine products at a much faster rate, saving time and money, resulting in cost savings for our customers. But perhaps the biggest advantage is the high level of quality and consistency that comes from this machine rather than traditional methods of finishing.

This machine gives us the added advantage of being able to receive CAD files directly from our customer, or designing a product in-house using Solidworks, allowing precision and accuracy that can be sent directly to the machine to be manufactured.

Not only does this machine give us the competitive edge for product finishing but also enables us to produce vacuum form tooling in-house for greatly reduced lead times for new jobs.

Take a look at our Belotti 5-axis CNC machining centre in action:
